About Me
Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, I moved to the United Kingdom at 21, returning to my ‘home and native land’ in 2016. During my time in the United Kingdom, I worked in the social care sector in a variety of front line and leadership roles, as well as working in retail banking and sales. I’ve also been a Business Manager and arts administrator. I’m someone who likes to try new things, excite others about new things, and learn new things.
One common thread in all of this diverse experience has been relationships. I’m passionate about building authentic relationships - and helping others in their relationships. Whether it’s building supporting managers and their staff to build (or rebuild) - relationships of trust, or helping people understand each other’s perspectives and expectations - I love getting to know people and helping them to get to know each other.
Over the years, I’ve received training in staff supervision, change management, mental health supports for employees and managers, as well as equity informed approaches to work - and have shared this training with people from around the world. As a chartered HR Professional with a CPHR designation, I’ve completed training on all aspects of effective HR practices - and have supported the implementation of these practices.
Core to my values is my belief that people want to enjoy their work and do it well - and so when something isn’t working, my job is to help people identify what’s gone wrong and put in place a clear plan to fix it. My years of HR and management experience have taught me that it is always better to address and treat the root problem and not just the symptom - which is why it’s so important to approach issues with curiosity and an open mind.
It might be a cliche, but I am a people person. I like meeting people, hearing their stories, learning from them, and helping them.
